Pay It Forward For Pets - Ursa

There’s only one word to describe Ursa, and that is BEAUTIFUL! Ursa is thought to be around five years old and is a purebred Akita. While all Akitas are stunning, Ursa stands out as exceptional. This gorgeous girl was rescued by a good Samaritan and brought to Summit County Animal Control.

Typical of her breed, she was skeptical and scared at intake. Aloof and distrustful, she displayed all the behaviors typical of a fearful Akita. However, thanks to the kindness of the SCAC staff, Ursa warmed up and is now accepting attention from all the employees at the shelter.

Though Ursa’s fluffy coat makes her appear quite large, she is, in fact, medium in size, weighing in at 55 pounds.

Adopters often choose a dog based on looks, and Ursa will check off all the boxes in that department. However, it’s essential to understand the traits of the Akita breed for a successful match. This breed can be aloof with anyone outside of their family; they are fiercely loyal and often protective. They require moderate exercise for both physical and mental health. However, this girl is not interested in a run! 😂 She’s more of a napper than an athlete. Often strong-willed, it’s crucial for an Akita handler to kindly establish themselves as the pack leader. Because of these unique personality traits, we believe she’ll do best with an experienced Akita owner.

We know Ursa checks all the boxes, but do you? If you believe this beautiful girl will be your next constant companion, don’t delay—schedule your “meet and greet” today!
